Stop-Motion

Dinosaurs

In the sixth grade, I decided I was going to make an epic dinosaur documentary using stop-motion animation, like the 1925 Lost World and the original 1933 King Kong.  The problem was, I had no idea how to start...so I began with clay dinosaurs...which would get smooshed.

Discouraged, but not defeated, I began to research more and found out those old movies didn't use clay at all, but puppets built with wood and metal armatures with foam rubber muscles and skin.

After several years of false starts, I finally began what would become my first stop-motion puppet in the summer of 2013, an Allosaurus. (My favorite dinosaur thanks to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.)

Then college hit...

Working on my puppet during school breaks, he was finally completed in the fall of 2016, just a few weeks after I had graduated.
